Fall is a time that people look forward to all year. Falling leaves, cool temperatures, with the holidays just around the corner are sure to put everybody in a good mood.
Unfortunately, unwanted pests may come around to interrupt all of that fall fun. The dropping temperatures leave insects and rodents searching for a warm place to stay until spring arrives. These are some of the most common fall pests that you need to be on the lookout for.
Bees
Bees become more active during the early fall months because they have to prepare their colony for winter. Lucky for you, their presence is not intended to harm humans. They’re out searching for pollen and food to store. Unless they bother you, don’t bother them.
Beetles
Beetles come in many different kinds. Ladybugs stink bugs, and so many others fall into the beetle category. Beetles within the home are typically caused by small opening around windows and doors. Use weather stripping to help prevent their appearance in your home this fall. If you see beetles in your home, you should vacuum them up.
Mice
Mice are a well-known pest. They seek warmth around this time of year and they’ll find any small gap or crevice to sneak into your home. Place mouse traps in your home’s basement, attic, and garage. If you suspect mice in other areas, set up additional traps. The presence of multiple mice could be an early sign of an infestation. If you believe you have an infestation, let a professional exterminator handle the removal process.
Spiders
Spiders may not be a pretty sight to see, but they serve an important purpose. In fact, spiders eat many of the other pests that we all try to keep out of our homes! The occasional spider in your home is unavoidable, but you should primarily only see them outdoors. If they are outdoors you should avoid knocking down their web and instead leave them alone to serve their purpose.
