How Long Do Pest Control Treatments Last?

Home » Uncategorized » How Long Do Pest Control Treatments Last?

There is no set answer to this question due to the varying nature of pests and the severity of the situation. The amount of time pest treatments last mainly depends on the type of pest you have in your home and generally lasts a few months.

General pest control targets common insects like roaches and woodlice but does not handle pests like termites.

How Long Does the Treatment Last?

As discussed earlier, the amount of time pest control treatment lasts varies according to the pest.

Although general pest control treatment can last a few months, it does not cover other insects like termites or ants.

Ant Treatment

When an ant infestation gets out of hand, it gets especially troubling because it can contaminate your food and spread disease.

Ant control is possible, and depending on the severity of the situation, it can consist of around 3-6 months of monthly visits to eliminate them. In addition, they track the problem to the source, searching for and destroying all anthills in the process.

Termite Treatment

Unlike ants, a termite infestation of any magnitude is alarming and should be looked over as soon as possible because of its wood-boring abilities.

The time taken for pest control to solve your termite problem depends on the treatment method used, two standard treatment methods being liquid treatment or setting up a baiting station.

Liquid treatment is a less favorable treatment for termite infestation, primarily due to the time it takes and the repercussions it has. This treatment can last up to 5 years and is very harmful to the environment. In addition to that, this method does not guarantee the elimination of the root of the problem.

Baiting stations are far less invasive and more environmentally friendly when considering termite treatment. This method involves installing baiting stations around the house, hoping that termites will bring the bait back to their colony. Although considered less of a hassle, it’s a much more time-consuming process, sometimes taking months before any change is seen.
